Kenya AA / AB (Kenyan Screen Grade System)

Kenya uses a screen-size grading system rather than the Ethiopian defect-count model. AA (screen 18+) represents the largest beans and typically the highest cup scores; AB (screen 15–17) offers excellent cup quality at more accessible pricing. Both grades in our portfolio score 85–88 SCA points.

Kenya — Bold Structure, Blackcurrant Brightness

Our Kenyan lots are sourced from small-holder wet mills in the central highlands, processed using Kenya’s signature 72-hour double fermentation and fully washed method. The result is the profile specialty buyers know well: heavy body, vivid blackcurrant and grapefruit brightness, and a lingering dark-chocolate finish.

Tasting Notes: Blackcurrant · Grapefruit · Dark Chocolate · Full Body

Processing: Fully Washed (double-fermented)

Cupping Score: 85–88 SCA pts

Kenya AA — Screen 18 and above. Largest bean size, premium cup clarity. Ideal for single-origin espresso and pour-over programs.

Kenya AB — Screen 15–17. Exceptional value-to-quality ratio. Complex and bright; well-suited to blends and filter roasts.

Burundi — Micro-lots, Traceable to the Hill

We source exclusively from one of Burundi’s most respected washing station operators, that work directly with smallholder farmers across Burundi’s highlands, paying above-market prices and running quality-focused processing that consistently produces micro-lots with exceptional sweetness, clarity, and terroir expression.
